World Water Day celebrated in Pakistan and Bangladesh

As part of our Safe Water programme, as well as providing and installing water hand pumps, wells and solar wells, Muslim Charity also strives to increase awareness around basic water and sanitation hygiene best practices.



Earlier this week, on 22nd March 2021, Muslim Charity commemorated World Water Day, which is an annual United Nations observance day held to highlight the importance of fresh water.

Zakah donation – The Best Way to Purify Your Soul and Wealth in Islam

There are five core pillars which form the basis of Islam – declaration of faith (shahadah), five daily prayers (salah), annual obligatory charity of 2.5% of wealth (zakat), fasting during the holy month of Ramadan and the lifetime pilgrimage of Hajj. The Arabic word ‘Zakah’ or sometimes pronounced ‘Zakat’, means purification, growth and blessing. It reflects the idea that giving in charity is a form of purification and cleansing. This same concept is reflective of hair that grows healthier after a trim, and a plant that is pruned and cut in order for it to regrow and develop. Zakah donations are an obligatory charity. Shining a bright light to the dark lives of street children with charity – watch this film!

  In Pakistan, there are 1.5 million children living on the streets – a number that is both likely to be a conservative estimate, and one that is rapidly increasing due to poverty, frequent natural disasters and hardship. Children living on the streets anywhere and everywhere are denied of their basic rights to education, health, shelter, protection and care. They are not being raised with the love, care and safety of family or guardians, that every child should experience. Many have been abandoned by their parents or are escaping violence at home, but some come from families that are so vulnerable and impoverished that they’ve been forced onto the street to beg to put food on the table. Muslim Charity has been working in Pakistan since 1999, and is committed to helping children live a life away from the horrors of the street, with safe shelter, healthcare, and education.
